Family policies

What students and families ask us most, in plain words.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

Watching class and performances

Parents of teens are welcome in the lobby while class is on. Twice a year, in November and March, we open the studio door for watch weeks. Adult students may bring a guest to the last class of a session. Performance seating is open, and filming follows the rule printed in the program.

What to wear and bring

A leotard or fitted top, tights and ballet slippers. Adults may wear workout clothes they can move in, and socks are fine for a first class. Hair is off the neck, and jewelry stays at home. We say what to wear when you book.

When to stay home

Please stay home with a fever, and after being sick until you have been well for a full day. Tell your teacher about any pain, before or during class, and the teacher will change what you do that day.

Arriving and leaving

The front door opens fifteen minutes before the first class. A teen under 18 leaves on the terms a parent has written down: with a parent, with a named adult or on their own. We never send a teen home on a message from someone we don't know.

Closures for weather and holidays

We follow the local school district on snow days and tell students by text and email by noon. Classes missed in a closure are made up in the same session where we can, and rehearsals are moved.

Phones and recording

Phones stay in bags during class. Students don't record in the studio. A teacher may film a short clip to correct a step, and shares it only with the student and, for a teen, a parent.

Absences and late arrival

Please tell the front desk the day before if you will miss a class or a rehearsal. Performance group members commit to the season, and a pattern of absences is a conversation with Alfonzo, never a surprise.
